So last night, before bed, Pat asked Caden what book he wanted to read and he picked out a book where a little Kermit The Frog learns how to go potty. Caden had us read it a few times and in true Caden fashion, he said "I do that!" So we said he could try, not thinking he would actually do it. We had him sit on the potty naked and within a couple minutes of sitting there he said "I did it!" Well we lifted him off the potty chair, and low and behold, there was pee-pee in the potty. The only bad thing about this situation was that we weren't prepared jelly beans, which is what the other kids get at daycare. So he was a little upset, but we made up for it by having a huge celebration and putting a sticker on his Dora the Explorer Potty Chart that Pat had printed out. I know that all our single friends or friends without children have already stopped reading this, but this is a BIG deal in our house!
We kind of thought it was just a fluke, but Pat called me today at work and told me that Caden turned to him and said "I need to go!" and so they went upstairs and Caden went poo-poo in the potty. Only this time, after a late night run to Fred Meyer, he was prepared with a jelly bean. I just got the cutest message on my work phone where Caden says, "Mommy, I did it! I went potty!" Maybe our days of diapers are numbered....
